Fondo Nacional de Garantías S.A.

Fondo Nacional de Garantías S.A. (FNG) is the institution through which the national government seeks to facilitate access to credit to micro, small and medium size companies by providing them with guarantees.

Besides, FNG backs loans whose destination is to finance the acquisition of "Social Interest Housing" and the payment of "higher education" tuition fees. FNG does not guarantee loans whose destination is the agricultural sector, this type of loans are backed by the Fondo Agropecuario de Garantias, administered by Finagro.

In order to obtain a guarantee, the company must contact the Financial Institution to which it is asking for the loan who will provide it with information. It’s the financial institution who will ask directly for the guarantee. For any further information, the company can contact either FNG or the corresponding Fondo Regional de Guarantias (Fondo Regional de Garantias are the commercial agents of the FNG in the regions).
